Lost, the critically acclaimed and multiple award winning television series returns for its third season of action-packed mystery and adventure that will continue to bring out the best and worst in the stranded islanders.

This season installment promises more drama and secrets about the island and its inhabitants.

The focus is on the 'Others' -- who they are, why they are on the island and the way they live their lives. New characters will be introduced in the third season like Juliet Burke (Elizabeth Mitchell), Benjamin Linus (Michael Emerson) and Richard Alpert (Nestor Carbonell).

For those who have been following the show, major plot points include more about the Dharma Initiative, Desmond's future-prophesising powers, and Charlie's imminent death. The mysteries of the island, like pregnancy issues and the healing properties, are also explained.

Lost premieres August 1 at 9 pm on Star Movies.
