ABCD

How is this for a film title: ABCD

No, Tamil director Saravana Subbiah is not making a movie on the English alphabet.

The film's unusual title stands for the first letters of the names of the protagonists, a man and three women, played by Shaam, Sneha, Nandana and Aparna.

Shaam burst onto the Tamil film scene with a bang, but lady luck seemed to have deserted him after that. Fortunately for him, an old small film of his, Ullam Ketkume, became an unexpected hit.

He is now hoping ABCD will also bring him the same kind of luck.

Another person who needs lots of luck is Sneha. Till recently, she was being touted as the heroine who could grab the top position from Trisha. Sneha starred as Kamal Haasan's heroine in Vasool Raja MBBS. But like Abhirami, Kamal's Virumaandi heroine, Sneha also disappeared from the scene soon.

The real reason could be the entry of young, talented and glamorous new girls in the scene like Nayanthara, Asin and Gopika, to name a few.

Incidentally, having a man and three women as lead characters is a new trend in Tamil films. It started with Cheran's hugely successful Autograph, in which he had three heroines. And after ABCD, which has been ready to hit theatres for quite some time, the buzz is that Silambarasan's Vallavan also has one man and three women as the lead characters.
