India to send 'Devdas' to 75th Academy Awards
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas' will be India's official entry to the 75th Academy Awards.
A 16-member committee of the Film Federation of India, headed by Shakti Samanta, on Sunday chose 'Devdas' over 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh' and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'.
Other films that were considered were 'Agnivarsha', 'Kannathil Mutha Mittal', [Tamil] and 'Manda Mayer Upaakhyan' and 'Saanjhbhatir Roopkathara' [Bengali].
Last year, Ashutosh Gowarikar's 'Lagaan' had reached the last five in the foreign film category.
