Goldie is Censor Board chief

Noted film maker Vijay Anand took over as chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification on Wednesday.

Anand, who succeeds veteran film actress Asha Parekh, reported at the Censor Board Office on his first day of work as the new chief.

Vijay, brother of evergreen actor Dev Anand, has directed a number of Hindi film hits, including Guide, starring Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman, and Teesri Manzil, starring Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh.

He has also produced several films, and is popularly known as Goldie.

Asha Parekh, whose term expired in June, relinquished her post Tuesday after the appointment of the new chief.
