Murali, Sharat Babu untouched in attack

Actors Murali and Sharat Babu were untouched in an attack by enraged villagers on their film unit.

Fifty members of the Tamil film, Sundaram, chased away four youth swimming in the Cauvery, after they refused to make way for a sequence. They returned with enraged villagers from Mandyakoppal, Mandya disctrict, Karnataka. Armed with sticks, stones and sickles, they attacked the unit, injuring 20 unit members and causing damage to film equipment.

Six members were admitted to hospital while 14 were discarged after being treated for injuries.

Actor Murali expressed shock over the incident, saying that he never expected such violent behaviour from the villagers.
