Mahesh Manjrekar interrogated by crime branch

Mahesh Manjrekar Leading Bollywood director Mahesh Manjrekar was questioned by the crime branch sleuths in Bombay, in connection with the Bollywood-underworld nexus, that came to fore with the alleged financing of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke by underworld don Chhota Shakeel.

On February 27, Manjrekar was summoned to the crime branch headquarters in south Bombay and was questioned for about four hours, according to police sources.

Bollywood producers Harish Sugandh and Sanjay Gupta were also interrogated by the crime branch officials, they said.

Meanwhile, police sources said they were in "final stages of filing a charge sheet in the CCCC case, in which financier Bharat Shah, film producer Nazim Rizvi and his associate have been arrested".

Vastav directed by Manjrekar, was reportedly financed by Deepak Nikalje, the brother of underworld don Chhota Rajan.

The sources in the crime branch said they were likely to interrogate more film personalities in the coming days to 'ferret out' information on the reported Bollywood-underworld nexus.

Last week, the police had interrogated popular actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
