Gadar - Ek Prem Katha came under fire whilst shooting in Lucknow, wherein the stars had to be provided with heavy security from the unruly crowds.

Apparently, the unit was forbidden from shooting at Bara Imambara as the Shias felt it would hurt their religious sentiments. Also the fact that Amisha's name in the film is Sakina (a holy name in Islam) created a lot of hue and cry.
