Adnan Sami to sing in Boney's latest film

Komal Nahta

Adnan Sami It had to happen.

Current pop sensation Adnan Sami has been roped in to sing in a film.

The singer-musician, whose Bheegi bheegi raaton mein and Kabhi to nazar milao (with diva Asha Bhosle) became an instant rage, sang a song for producer Boney Kapoor's remake of the Telugu hit, Anthapuram, on Monday, February 5, at Spectral Harmony.

Boney had just two words to describe the Canada-based singer after he finished the song: "He's brilliant!"

The song was actually being recorded in Kavita Krishnamurthy's voice by composer Ismail Darbar. While the recording was on, the recordist at Spectral Harmony suggested to Darbar that he call Sami to hear the song out as it was his kind of number.

After Darbar did the needful, Sami made it clear he would sing the song only if he liked the melody. And like it he did, as he agreed to sing it immediately! So the song was recorded in two versions -- Adnan and Kavita's.
