Nirupa Roy tortured me, says daughter-in-law

The last few days have been rife with mudslinging for veteran actress Nirupa Roy.

The actress and her family have come in for a lot of flak from her younger daughter-in-law Oona Roy (nee Seth), who is married to her second son, Kiran. Kiran and Oona have been married for six years.

Though a love marriage, Oona left Kiran two-and-a-half years ago following some differences. The couple agreed to an amicable divorce. All of a sudden, Oona started talking about her mother-in-law torturing her.

A source close to the family laughs the whole thing off: "Oona comes from a poor family. She’s obviously trying to make money out of these allegations. She left the house two-and-a-half years ago and has started badmouthing them now. Why? If she was speaking the truth, why did she kept quiet till now? Why didn't she approach a lawyer immediately?"

"God knows what went wrong -- she was a good daughter-in-law. Now, since the divorce is imminent, she's trying to malign them."

The elder daughter-in-law, who has been married for 14 years, has two kids -- aged ten and five. Nirupa Roy is said to be a doting grandmother and mother-in-law.

Says the source, "Oona lived with the family for over four years. The differences were between husband and wife. But Oona's dragging Nirupaji's name to attract public attention and get mileage out of it.

"But Nirupaji is 70 years old. Her husband is 80. It must be difficult for them to deal with this sudden attack."
