Inspired sums up the music of Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar.
Practically every song in the album has sought "inspiration" from somewhere.
This Priyadarshan-directed, Sunil Shetty-Paresh Rawal-Mahima Chaudhry starrer about tenants and landlords draws is a remake of the Malayalam hit, Sanmanasullvarku Samadhanam and seems to be inspired by Pacific Heights.
Anand Milind, replace Anu Malik who scored the music for Priyadarshan's earlier hit last year, Hera Pheri. Barring the title track by the duo that composed superhits like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Dil, Rakshak and Beta, the soundtrack offers nothing spectacular.
Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar comprises six tracks and some commendable lyrics by Ibrahim Ashq (of Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai).
The album takes off with the instant boomer -- Saraswati yeh tera ghar. Vivacious vocals by Sonu Nigam, catchy lyrics, wonderful beats all add up to make this track awesome. Saraswati... is making waves already.
Hasate ho rulate ho by Abhijeet and Alka Yagnik is a rehashed version of popular Pakistani pop singer Ali Haider's Purani jeans.
Next comes Govinda -- a run of the mill Gokulashtami track. Singers Babul Supriyo and Alka Yagnik breathe some life into this rehash of Laal hoton pe (Naajayaz) and Aaj rapat jaaye (Namak Halal).
Mil jaye khazana by Shaan and Kay Kay is shameless replica of the Abba hit -- Nina Pretty Ballerina. Get a life, guys!
Shrikumar of Dil Chahta Hai fame fails to impress this time round with the insipid Hasta hua yeh chehra.
Kuch pyar bhi kar is a rhythmic ditty by Adnan Sami. Even though the background beats are clearly reminiscent of Kuch Bhi Na Socha (Bombay), Sami's singing makes you overlook the flaws.
Originality is certainly not what Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar is all about. Cover versions, anyone?
