Music has never been the strong point of Suneel Darshan films -- be it Ajay or Jaanwar. His latest ambitious vehicle, Ek Rishtaa - The Bond of Love, is no exception.
For his earlier films, he chose Anand Milind as composer. This time round, the composer duo Nadeem Shravan does the honours, with lyrics penned by Sameer.
Ek Rishtaa…comprises eight songs and one instrumental version.
The album kickstarts with Dil lagaane ki in the sugary voices of Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. A fairly hummable track that grows on you after repeated hearings.
Mohabbat ne mohabbat ko is another racy number that doesn't quite fit in the chartbuster category. What, perhaps, lifts it from the ordinary is the remarkable enthusiasm with which Udit Narayan and Yagnik yodel this ditty.
There is only one way to describe Ek dil hai. Irksome! A highly dull composition meant to be a wedding night song ends up doing the job of a lullaby. Unfortunately, all the attempts of the gifted Sanu and Alka prove futile in making this song interesting.
Since Ek Rishtaa... is all about family and relationships, the inclusion of songs that gush about family unity and undying love is but expected. Hum khush hue and Ek raja hai ek rani hai are two such tracks.
While the former somewhat succeeds in tugging at the your heart, the latter sounds like a miserable version of some old Laxmikant-Pyarelal number.
Point to be noted: Mohammed Aziz makes an appearance in the world of playback singing after a huge gap.
Dil deewana dhoondta hai is monotonous and falls in the fast forward category. The same rule applies for the supposedly seductive Mulaqaat by Alka.
Composer duo Nadeem Shravan, who recently dazzled the music scene with the superhit Dhadkan and the popular Kasoor are nowhere near bulls eye with Ek Rishtaa.
