A normal love story

Sharmila Taliculam

So far she's had at least three different identities. Some people know her as Arbaaz Khan's sister-in-law. Others know her as Malaika Arora's little sister. Most, of course, know her as the peppy veejay who's been burning up the MTV screen.

Amrita Arora Now, Amrita Arora is all set to add another layer to her diverse personality.

She has signed two films -- one with veteran film-maker D Rama Naidu and the other with Shool director E Niwas. Malaika's baby sister is all set to sizzle the big screen.

She is lucky in a sense; her elder sister has already tested waters in the industry. Malaika, in fact, is almost as popular as a veejay as she is as the Chaiyya chaiyya girl.

Amrita has a big advantage, in that she already comfortable in front of the camera. Trying her hand at acting, then, was only a step away.

But try and talk to her about her roles and the petite lass is tight-lipped. "The films will be launched only after two or three months," she explains. "So I have been asked not to talk about them right now. All I can say is: both films are normal love stories."

The industry, we hear, has been wooing Amrita for quite some time."I had offers before too," she confesses, "but I wasn’t too keen then."

What, then, helped her make up her mind about these two films?

The script, she says, and the set-up.

"When these film-makers approached me," she explains, "I thought the scripts were nice. And I liked the set up too. Besides, I have really nice people around me to advise me on what is good and bad."

And that, she says, is when she decided she wanted to act, she told rediff.com. But she finally made up her mind only three weeks ago.

The successful veejay now hopes she will be an equally successful actress. "I hope," she grins, "to give it my best shot."
