Now Sadak II!

Well, Mahesh Bhatt's likely to break his promise yet again. Or so we hear.

Bhatt crossed his heart and claimed that Zakhm would be his last film. We weren't sure whether to believe him. And now we hear that the Bhatt factory's is planning sequel to Sadak.

Though it's far too early to say 'We told you so', we think Bhatt's fingers may itch too much to let him stay away. If Bhatt can control himself and keep away, Robin Bhatt and Akash Khurana will direct the film. The duo, who drafted the storyline, and are reportedly applying the finishing touches on the script now.

Sadak was about a tough eunuch and a girl trapped in his brothel. Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who played the hermaphrodite goon, became immensely popular after that role.

The sequel, very originally titled Sadak II, will star Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt and Priya Gill. Amrapurkar will again play the eunuch, Maharani. A child artiste too has been also conscripted for this film, we hear.

Bollywood and Hollywood are really getting too close for comfort. First, we have Shekhar Kapur go and direct a foreign venture, even aspire to an Oscar. Now Indian and foreign directors are getting together to make Indian flicks...

The film in question, launched on February 27 last year by Nimbus, is to be directed by Akash Khurana and an assistant director of Mission Impossible.

Harish Thawani of Nimbus says the film will be shot in foreign locales -- in Australia and Europe. The action sequences needing technical expertise and special effects will be used a lot in the film. Akash Khurana will also do the screenplay and dialogues, and supervise the entire project. The film, which is to be wrapped up before September, has Sanjay Dutt in the lead. More info will be provided as and when we get it.

Return of the multi-starrer

Jackie Shroff. Click for bigger pic!
This is rather odd. At a time when the film world is complaining about star rates, the cost of filmmaking and the recession, comes a film from Raj Kumar Kohli, starring, believe it or n., nine heroes and six heroines.

These include Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Rambha, Sonali Bendre and son Armaan Kohli, among others. If you'd noted, the son was the only element that could pass for small fry.

The question is where is the money coming from? And will there be more than one producer sitting over him for this one?

One wag tells us he might be stringing together the stories of a few unfinished films for this one.

Play vs work

Since we mentioned the son somewhere there, Armaan has apparently messed up a career, his reputation allegedly now resting solely on the diversity of his women.

He has nothing on hand except his father's films, which surface once in about every couple of years. After his last flop, Qahar, he hasn't had a job worth the mention.

Meanwhile, in keeping with his Casanova image, he had changed girlfriends from Pooja Batra to Komal Ramphal, the sister of Arjun -- this is the same Armaan for whom Ayesha Jhulka allegedly wrecked her career over. Rumour has it though that fiery Komal has walked out of the man's life after he reportedly thrashed her. But since no police complaint has been filed, there's no way we can tell now.

Karate to the rescue

Sorry, we aren't really preoccupied with the junior Kohli, just using him to go off on a tangent -- to ex-girlfriend Pooja Batra.

After a sensational debut in Virasat, the Batra babe messed up with Sham Ghansham. Ashok Ghai just could not make the tall model look as good as Priyadarshan did in Virasat.

Pooja now pins her hopes on Haseena Maan Jayegi, where she plays a karateka. Considering this fact against the film's title, we hope the producer has reserved a decent chunk of the budget for stuntpeople -- men and women.

Pooja, who plays a rich snob is paired opposite Sanjay Dutt in the film, which also has Govinda opposite Karisma Kapoor. Director David Dhawan has always wanted to work with a tall pair and has his chance here.

Der mat kar, bhidu...

Govinda. Click for bigger pic!
The recent trend of heroes singing their own songs isn't done, it seems. After Aaamr Khan in Ghulam, Sanjay Dutt in Khubsoorat and Govinda going on to make a music album, Sanjay Dutt and Govinda have got together to sing a tapori number for Haseena Maan Jayegi. This time the song's been set to music by Anu Malik, the lyrics being provided by Nitin Raikawar, of Aati Kya Khandala fame. The lines:

Der mat kar, bhidu
I love you bol dal...

If one goes by the response for the Khandala number, this could well be a chart-buster.
