Bouncy Dimple

Dimple Kapadia. Click for bigger pic!
Dimple is getting back into form, with one film in hand with Amitabh Bachchan and two with Jackie Shroff.

The one that's got her all interested is Laawaris, directed by first-timer Srikant Sharma, who was earlier N Chandra's assistant.

She hasn't been worrying herself silly about her roles, a fact that's brought a glow to her face. Also, she's lost some very loseable weight, and is looking good enough to give girls daughter Twinkle's age a complex. The secret is apparently diet and exercise.

"It is a pleasure if you pull out all your clothes out of the wardrobe and manage to fit into everything easily," says Dimple, who will be 41 on June 8. As an aside, she tells you a dead project, Muzaffar Ali's Zooni is likely to be resurrected. A bit of the film was shot 10 years ago; she plays the poetess Habba Khatoon. Money trouble hit Ali and scuttled the project. But will Ali -- Mulayam Singh's man against Vajpayee in Lucknow this election -- find some time for the film?

Dimple doesn't mind. She's found her font of serenity.

Snakes alive

Chandrachur Singh. Click for bigger pic!
So Chandachur Singh was a cobra in his last life and hasn't made up with his mate... We didn't say all that; a couple of women did, one being the parent of the other.

The duo told Rocky that the girl had scraped the floors as a nagin in her previous life while Rocky was a nag, the hint being that the cobra couple had strung along together. And so couldn't they make a twosome this time too?

Singh was pretty unnerved by this serpent incarnate and, during a recent shoot of Silsila Hai Pyar Ka with Karisma Kapoor, kept messing things up. And that upset him further.

Unfortunately, a dumb journo chose just that moment to ask him whether he was on drugs.

Rocky exploded. "What makes you think I am a junkie? Just because I have got sleepy eyes? You bloody well don't write about me at all. Else, I'll make sure that you don't work in any magazine at all."

This time, we'll put it down to the jitters.

Madhoo Mafatlal?

Madhoo -- yup, of Roja fame -- is now going around with a scion of the Mafatlal clan. The boy apparently fell very hard for Madam, and the lady gave her okay for him to do so. So all things appear settled... Uh oh! We forgot the family.

Now comforting news comes from a former teacher of the lass, assuring us that the banns are likely to be out soon.

"Her family has agreed because the boy is from a good family. Though Madhoo works in films, the family," the teacher tells you seriously, "is very conservative. Her aunt Hema Malini put in a word for the boy too," he added. She didn't know what yarn the lad spun back home to get his own kin around.

Oh brother!

Akshaye Khanna. Click for bigger pic!
Akshaye Khanna used to get pretty uptight when scribes asked him when elder brother Rahul would join him in Tinsel Town.

For Chrissakes, he used to cry, "Leave him alone. He is pretty happy veejaying on MTV."

Now Deepa Mehta has dropped him from Earth, replacing him with -- Rahul. Shooting has even begun in Delhi.

Mehta insisted on a face like Akshaye -- the original wouldn't do -- and found it in the same gene pool.

Mamta's mess

Mamta Kulkarni. Click for bigger pic!
You know Mamta. Smart girl for her age and all that, but apparently a little oversexed.

Remember the brouhaha over her affair with Tinnu Verma, when the fight master's wife threatened violence? Verma apparently tried to throw gullible wifey off the trail by claiming he'd split with Kulks.

Things were getting a little hairy for him with the family following him to shoots and hiring a private detective to catch Verma and Mamta in flagrante whatever.

Remember Kulks had snapped her leg when shooting for Raj Kumar Santoshi's China Gate? "Actually she did not break her leg during the shoot. She was fooling around with Verma on horseback after the shoot and she fell down," says a peeved Santoshi.

On horseback!?!
