Perhaps the largest political billboard in all of Madhya Pradesh is this one, overlooking a stately statue of Jawaharlal Nehru, in the heart of Bhopal.

The Pradesh Congress Committee office -- or the state Congress headquarters -- is at Jawahar Bhavan, a rather ordinary building, just across the street.

Chief Minister Digvijay Singh -- who waves out assuringly from the giant hoarding and has been christened Shriman Bantadhar or Mr Destruction by the BJP -- was himself a Pradesh Congress Committee president in 1984 and 1992.

He has instructed coordinators of the Congress campaign committee to meet every morning at 10. Duties have been chalked out and the CM takes regular updates.

The Congress campaign hinges on party President Sonia Gandhi, Digvijay Singh, former chief minister Arjun Singh, senior party leaders like Pranab Mukherjee and Ambika Soni. Film star attractions include Jeetendra, Ashutosh Rana and Govinda, who is yet to visit the state.
