After the terror attacks in Mumbai, it is the Chennai weather that is now threatening to impact the first India-England Test starting on Thursday.

Intermittent heavy rain since early morning has left the outfield at the Chidambaram Stadium slushy, delaying Indian team's morning practice.

The England team, which arrived in Chennai only after a fool-proof security was assured to them in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks, are also unlikely to have a full net session.

The weather bureau has predicted more showers later in the week owning to the depression in the Bay of Bengal, which would then play havoc with the first Test.

The two-Test series was originally scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, but was shifted to Chennai and Mohali for security reasons after the Mumbai mayhem.
