105 runs partnership between MJ Slater and ML Hayden was the first century partnership for first wicket in the matches so far played at this venue since 1930-31 between Australia and West Indies.

10-27(6-17 & 4-20) in this match by McGrath was the best ever bowling analysis by any Australian bowler against West Indies at this venue in terms of ecomic bowling analysis. It was the second instance to capture more than 10 wkts in a match by McGrath against West Indies. He becomes the only bowler from Australia after AK Davidson who achieved this feat by taking 5=135 and 6-87.

Brian Lara was playing in his 73rd Test match, and has achieved a milestone of completing 6000 runs in Test. His 6000th run came off the bowling of Colin Reid Miller,when he was on 167 in the first innings. Thus he becomes the seventh batsman for West Indies after IVA Richards (8540 in 121 matches), GStA Sobers (8032 in 93 matches) CG Greenidge(7558 in 108 matches) Clive Lloyd (7515 in 110 matches), DL Haynes (7487 in 116 matches) and RB Kanhai (6227 in 79 matches).
