Infosys becomes Netscape 'affiliate'

Bangalore's Infosys Technologies Limited has entered the 'Worldwide Affiliate Program' of Netscape Communications Corp.

The programme is expected to help professionals at the recently set up Infosys Internet Consulting Practice team closely track new technologies emerging from Netscape.

As a member of the Netscape affiliate programme Infosys will have early access to news and information about the latest products, architectures, development tools and platforms developed by Netscape.

It will also receive a complimentary subscription to Partner News, a weekly newsletter, distributed by email. The letter highlights the latest Netscape product, sales and programme information.

An Infosys spokesman pointed out that the programme is essentially based on information sharing and is technical in nature and that there are no business obligations for either party under the alliance.

Through IICP, Infosys seeks to help businesses worldwide leverage the power of the Internet and its technologies for achieving measurable business benefits. "In its endeavour, the IICP expends considerable effort in keeping abreast of the developments that happen in this and related technology domains," an IICP member said.

At the recently held Netscape Developers Conference at Bangalore, an IICP team presented a well-received technical paper titled 'Inter-applet communication across frames'. The paper describes a design, developed by the Infosys team, which enables communication between applets (small Internet applications based on the Java language) across different 'frames' of a Web page.
