NIIT, Informix enter strategic alliance

NIIT, part of the HCL group, has tied up with Informix International Inc, a provider of object-relational database technology management systems, so as to offer such products to Indian companies.

With this tieup, NIIT will be able to supply all of Informix's software products. NIIT, an India-based company, with headquarters in New Delhi, is into software solutions for education, networks, businesses and professional clients.

Informix's products include specialised software to manage data and those that manage mission critical online transactions are of special interest to bigger Indian companies that have to quickly reorganise complex chunks of data.

NIIT officials said the tieup will help Indian firms seeking complete information technology solutions and ensure that Indian software service firms can deal better with international assignments that call for more than just development and maintenance.

NIIT operates in the areas of systems integration; solutions for business, engineering, manufacturing, finance and geomatics; networking and communications; information technology consultancy, applications software development; multimedia educational software; and career and corporate IT training.

Informix is one the world's leading supplier of parallel-processing database technology for open systems. In fact, its servers are the first choice of computer hardware manufacturers for publishing Transaction Processing Council benchmarks for UNIX-based systems.

Its products include application development tools and database servers for creating client/server online transaction processing applications, decision support systems, ad-hoc query interfaces, and connectivity software.
