NIIT ties up with Chinese government

NIIT, a part of HCL Corporation, has entered into a joint venture agreement with the Chinese government to launch its educational programme in China.

Under the proposal, NIIT's existing joint venture in China would be forming a new company to undertake various education projects. The Chinese government would be holding a representative equity in the new company.

At present, NIIT has a joint venture in China with TVE International, which is a part of the multibillion Kuok Group.

Rajender S Pawar, COO, NIIT, has said that China would be the 18th country where NIIT would undertake educational training programmes.

Under the plan, NIIT would be 'soft launching' its first centre in China by the end of this year and proposes to invest $1 million in the new joint venture.

"We are the first Indian company to launch educational programmes in China. The existing company would be providing business solutions while the new company would be providing educational services. We are, at present, structuring our curriculum and hope to finalise it soon," Pawar said.

The company has undertaken the task of translating its study material into Chinese as language is a major problem.
