Wipro offers Symbols banking system

Wipro Infotech, India's leading information technology company, has launched 'Symbols', a modular and fully integrated banking system from System Access of Singapore.

Symbols automates a bank's retail, corporate, treasury and investment banking operations.

It allows the bank to track asset performance, enables liquidity management and computes profitability at customer, product, branch and bank levels. This unique ability of Symbols will boost the competitiveness of banks in India by translating their back office efficiency into front office effectiveness, said Ashok Soota, group president of Wipro Infotech.

According to V Ramakumar, chief executive, solutions and system integration division, Symbols is highly parameterised and is customisable to the special requirements of Indian banking.

Moreover, Wipro has put together a core team of software professionals who shall be trained on banking technology. This team will be utilised jointly by system access for their international assignments and Wipro for domestic business, he said.

The tieup, with System Access for Symbols will allow Wipro to provide a comprehensive banking solution which is modular, flexi-centric and operates in both centralised and decentralised implementations. This will be of great help in India, where the larger banks have a huge number of branches spread out over multiple states, the company claimed.
