Senior bureaucrats to visit Andhra Pradesh to study IT

A high-powered committee comprising Cabinet Secretary T S R Subramaniam, a host of chief secretaries from various states and senior bureaucrats of the Central government will visit Andhra Pradesh on August 26 and 27 to study the use of information technology by the state government in the development process.

This was disclosed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu while inaugurating a five-day retreat for ministers and senior secretaries of the state government at the Administrative Staff College of India in Hyderabad.

The Central government has designated Andhra Pradesh as the nodal state for implementing information technology.

Naidu said that with an information technology university and hi-tech parks coming up in the state, the government is contemplating to make the colleges and schools use IT in a big way.

He said that in a couple of months all collectorates would be connected to the state capital, making it possible to hold video conferences with the collectors.

Referring to the retreat, he said periodic training at all levels is essential to upgrade the skills of individuals and the performance of the government.
