Netscape launches India roadshow

The Wipro Infotech Group, the largest Indian information technology company and the exclusive distributor of Netscape Communications Corporation, has launched a roadshow to exhibit Netscape products.

The products launched include Netscape Suitespot 3.1 standard and professional editions and targeted solutions to make it easier to deploy Netscape solutions for intranet and extranet.

The roadshow is a part of a series of roadshows being covered by Netscape Communications all over the world. Entitled 'Open standards approach to messaging and intranet/extranet deployment', it focuses on sharing Netscape's strategy for 1997 with Indian enterprise customers and large organisations.

Netscape will also showcase some of its new technology - Compass Server, Netcaster and Mission Control, among others.

Netscape Communications has just selected Wipro Infotech as a Netscape solutions expert partners in electronic commerce. Wipro is among the first few companies in Asia selected for providing systems integration on Netscape solutions worldwide.

Ben Horowitz, director of server product marketing at Netscape Communication Corporation, told a press conference in Bombay today that "By simplifying our product family Netscape is making it easier for customer of all sizes to buy Suitespot and for our channel partners to sell our server solutions. With standard and professional edition of Suitespot we are providing targeted solutions for both large and small enterprises, as well as for individuals and small workgroups."

Wipro is committed to brining Netscape's cutting-edge technology to India as soon as they are announced in the US, said Manoj Punja, divisional manager, Wipro Software Products Division.

"In June we had hosted the first Netscape developers' meeting. This roadshow, with special emphasis on deploying intranet/extranet based on open standards, is a step in the same direction," he said.

Netscape's business in India has been growing rapidly. Wipro plans to further it through partners which would include resellers, OEMs and system integrators.

Wipro's Software Products Division markets and supports products from leading international companies including Adode, Borland, Cayenne, Lotus, Macromedia, McAfee, Netscape Communications, Novell and SPSS.
