EC freezes Shiv Sena's 'bow and arrow' symbol

The Election Commission today barred both -- Uddhav Tahckeray and Eknath Shinde -- factions from using party name Shiv Sena and its 'bow and arrow' poll symbol.

According to the EC order, both factions can't use 'bow and arrow' symbol in the upcoming Andheri East by-polls.

Both groups shall also be allotted such different symbols as they may choose from the list of free symbols notified by the Election Commission for the purposes of the current by-elections. Accordingly, both groups are hereby directed to furnish, latest by 1pm on 10th October, the EC order states.
