India issues advisory for its citizens in Ukraine: "All those who are travelling to Kyiv, including those travelling from western parts of Kyiv, are advised to return to their respective cities temporarily, especially towards safer places along the western bordering countries."

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today a military operation in Ukraine to defend separatists in the east of the country, called the Donbas region. "I have made the decision of a military operation," he said in a surprise statement on television shortly before 6 am.
