Garbage mountains will be removed, promises PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) 2.0 and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.

"India is processing about one lakh tonnes of waste every day; garbage mountains in cities will be processed and removed completely.

Cleanliness is not just for a day, fortnight or year, it is a mega campaign for everyday, for everyone to take part in it," the PM said.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present at the event said, "Swachh Bharat Mission has succeeded not only because of lakhs of toilets or bringing waste processing to 70 per cent but also because PM Modi made this project into a Jan Andolan."
