LS passes bill to enhance powers of Delhi LG

The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 has been passed in the Lok Sabha today.

The Bill gives more powers to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, who represents the centre, compared to the city's elected government.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi had opposed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had even urged the central government to take back the bill and said the AAP dispensation was ready to fall at the Modi government's feet for its withdrawal.
