P Sainath wins prestigious prize from Japan

People's Archive of Rural India founder-editor P Sainath wins the Fukuoka Grand Prize, among Japan's most prestigious international awards. The award honours the outstanding work of individuals or organizations in preserving or creating Asian culture.

Sainath founded the PARI in 2014, an online platform that focuses on social and economic inequality, rural affairs, poverty, and the aftermath of globalization in India. 

He is also the Ramon Magsaysay Award winner for 2007 and penned the must-read book, Everybody Loves a Good Drought.
