India reports 96,550 COVID cases in 1-day spike

India has recorded the biggest single-day spike so far, of 96,551 coronavirus cases in a day, which has taken the countrys tally to 45,62,415. The death toll has also 1,209 and is now at 76,271.

Among the 45 lakh confirmed cases, India now has 9,43,480 active coronavirus cases and 35,42,663 recovered or discharged cases. 

The country now has a recovery rate of 77.65%.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that in view of the WHO's warning that COVID-19 cases will be on the rise in the coming days, the state government has decided to provide 80% oxygen cylinders to hospitals and 20% to industries.
