Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reacts to the the arrival of the first batch of Rafale fighter jets in India. "Touchdown of Rafale jets in India marks the beginning of a new era in our military history. I am extremely happy that IAF's combat capability has got a timely boost. If anyone should be worried about our new capability it should be those who want to threaten our territorial integrity. Rafale jets were purchased when they fully met operational requirements of IAF."

Nearly four years ago, India signed an inter-governmental agreement with France to purchase 36 Rafale jets under a Rs 59,000-crore deal to boost the IAF's combat capabilities. The jets will be inducted into the IAF as part of its No 17 Squadron, also known as the 'Golden Arrows'. The aircraft is capable of carrying a range of potent weapons.
