Oppn meet today on CAA, NRC; Mamata to skip

Opposition parties will meet in New Delhi today to chalk out strategies to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government over the contentious citizenship law and the citizenship list NRC.

Leaders of the Congress, Left parties, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Rashtriya Janata Dal, among others

The meeting is expected to signal opposition unity.

The Samajwadi Party is expected to attend the meeting, but suspense remains over the participation of Mayawatis Bahujan Samaj Party. 

However, West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee announced that she will not be a part of the meeting, dealing a blow to efforts to showcase a united Opposition.
