Amid protests, PM Modi meets Mamata Banerjee

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Kolkata in West Bengal, during which he will take part in the 150th-anniversary celebrations of the Kolkata Port Trust.

PM Narendra Modi will also hold a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Raj Bhavan. The meeting with Mamata Banerjee assumes significance in view of the chief minister's recent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit to Kolkata, hundreds of protesters staged a protest outside the Kolkata airport and various parts of the state against the prime minister's scheduled visit to the city.
