Anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protesters at Shaheen Bagh have begun a march towards Union home minister Amit Shah's residence on Sunday.

The police, however, have not given permission for the march and a team, dressed in riot gear, is expected to stop the protesters.

"They (Shaheen Bagh protesters) told us that they wanted to take out a march (to meet the HM). But we told them they cannot as they do not have appointment call from the Union home minister. We are talking to them and we hope that they will understand," RP Meena, DCP South East told ANI.

The protesters, mainly women, have been staging a sit-in against the Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and the National Population Register for the past two months.
