Prime Minister Narendra Modi replies in Rajya Sabha to the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address:

"To be honest, I was a little disappointed with some of the remarks made here. Some members have made stagnation a virtue. They were stuck in the same old ways, talking about the same old things of the past."

"Ghulam Nabi Azad ji said the decisions on Jammu and Kashmir were taken without any discussion. This is not correct."

"The entire nation had witnessed the detailed discussions on the subject. MPs have voted in favour of the decisions.

"People do not forget things easily. I want to remind the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, about the way in which proceedings regarding the creation of Telangana took place here, doors were closed and live telecast was prohibited."

"For first time in decades, people of Jammu and Kashmir got benefits of reservation. There were Blocked Development Council polls, Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act came into being there. An anti-corruption bureau was set up there."

"Vaiko ji said 5 August 2019 was a black day for Jammu and Kashmir. Vaiko ji it was not a black day for J-K, it was a black day for those who promoted terrorism and separatism."

"Plight of the Bru refugees was pitiable. Yet, the party which ruled most parts of the Northeast for decades and the party that ruled Tripura for decades did nothing about this crisis. It was our Government that had the honour of solving this major problem."

"Despair is not good for any nation, so the positive outcome of the $5 trillion economy talk is that those who oppose it also have to talk about $5 trillion economy. We have changed the mindset."  -- ANI
