JUST IN: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Girish Murmu resigns, says All India Radio.

As per media report, Murmu is tipped to be the new Comptroller and Auditor General.

Meanwhile, former Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi is likely to take over as new L-G of J-K.

Murmu's resignation comes on the first anniversary of the scrapping of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the state into two Union territories. -- Agencies
