Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrives for the Cabinet meeting. The portfolios of the 57 ministers -- 24 of cabinet rank, 9 of independent minister of state rank and 24 ministers of state -- were announced today.

On Thursday, President Ram Nath Kovind administered oath of office and secrecy to PM Modi and his Cabinet colleagues.

There were 26 new faces in the council of ministers, including Amit Shah, who is the president of the BJP, and former foreign secretary S. Jaishankar. The council of ministers also included six women -- three of whom were sworn in as cabinet ministers.
