Slum kid from Mumbai wins big at New York film fest

Remember the cute little boy who played the young Saroo in the 2016 film, Lion? Sunny Pawar is all of 11 now and has just won the Best Child Actor award at the 19th New York Indian Film Festival 2019 for the film 'Chippa'. A resident of Kunchi Kurve Nagar's slum area near Kalina, Mumbai, he first shot to fame for Australian Director Garth Davis' 2016 film 'Lion'. 


Speaking to ANI, Sunny said, "I am very happy. This is all due to my parents. I want to be a big actor like Rajinikanth and want to make my parents proud. I want to work in both Bollywood and Hollywood."
