West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee holds a march from Beliaghata to Shyambazar to protest against vandalism of a bust of social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar in Kolkata yesterday, which her party alleges was done by Bharatiya Janata Party members.

BJP president Ami Shah, however, said that the ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal has vandalised the statue to gain sympathy.

BJP and TMC supporters Tuesday fought pitched battles on the streets of Kolkata during a massive road show by Shah, who escaped unhurt but was forced to cut short the jamboree and had to be escorted to safety by the police.  -- ANI/PTI
