The Election Commission's decision to order campaigning in nine West Bengal constituencies to end at 10 pm on Thursday, a day before its scheduled deadline hasn't gone down well with Mamata Banerjee.

In a press conference she hit out at the poll panel and the prime minister along with BJP party president Amit Shah, who she blames for the violence that took place during his road show on Tuesday.

Banerjee said, "Election Commission is running under the BJP. This is an unprecedented decision. Yesterday's violence was because of Amit Shah. Why has EC not issued a show-cause notice to him or sacked him?"

She added that the Election Commission's decision is unfair, unethical and politically biased. "PM Modi given time to finish his two rallies tomorrow," she said.

The West Bengal CM further said, "Amit Shah created violence through his meeting, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar statue was vandalized but Modi did not feel sorry for that today. People of Bengal have taken this seriously, action should be taken against Amit Shah."
