Om Birla elected new Lok Sabha Speaker

The process of election of new Speaker begins in the Lok Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presetned the motion to make Bharatiya Janata Party MP Om Birla as the new Speaker.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh seconded the motion.

Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Telugu Desam Party also support the motion.

The motion is carried.
