Heavy rains in Mumbai, IMD warns of thunderstorm

India Meteorological Department, Mumbai, says that severe thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and strong surface winds exceeding 50-60 kmph will occur in Thane, Raigad and Mumbai during next four hours.

Mumbai is witnessing heavy rains accompanied with strong winds for the past couple of hours.

Heavy traffic jams were seen on several roads and highways in Mumbai.

Public Relations Officer at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai said flights are delayed by 30 minutes on average, due to heavy rains since last two hours. -- with ANI inputs
