Parliamentary committee on IT summons Twitter head and other officials to appear before it on February 25, says panel head Anurag Thakur. The Twitter team including Twitter India representatives arrived today to appear before the Parliamentary Committee on Information Technology.

The Parliamentary Committee on IT has passed a resolution unanimously that they will not meet any Twitter officials until senior members or CEO of the Twitter Global team depose before the Committee. A 15-day deadline has been given to Twitter.

The BJP on Saturday warned Twitter over its refusal to appear before a Parliamentary panel on information technology. BJP MP Anurag Thakur went on to ask users to list their concerns on a mail to the panel. BJP has warned Twitter of "repercussions" after the social network company's CEO and top officials declined to appear before the parliamentary committee, saying no agency has the right to disrespect institutions of the country.

The parliamentary panel had summoned Twitter CEO and officials over the issue of safeguarding citizens' rights on social media platforms.
