Rail Bhawan turns saffron
February 06, 2019  16:38
Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, the headquarters of the Indian Railways, has  got a new coat of paint and the colour is in sync with the government's political leanings. The walls on the first two floors have been painted saffron.

Employees and visitors are perplexed not so much at the choice of colour, but at the decision to paint the walls. Apparently, a decision was taken last month that the walls needed a coat of paint since they looked dirty.

Senior officials like members of the railway board were not told about this, until they walked in one day to work and saw the saffron walls.

What is being wondered in the corridors of Rail Bhawan is that Railways minister Piyush Goyal is not from RSS, but is a Chartered Accountant, so why the saffron tint. Insiders have been wondering if a change in government at the Centre -- say the mahagathbandhan -- will mean the walls turn green or may be red...

Wait till the polls, we say.
