A delegation comprising senior leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Jagat Prakash Nadda, will approach the Election Commission later today against the ban on UP CM Yogi Adityanath from election campaigning for 72 hours. Clearly, the other BJP leader, also facing a 48-hour ban -- Maneka Gandhi -- is not on the priority list of the party.

IN any case, just this morning, the Supreme Court, while expressing satisfaction over the Election Commission's action against UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BSP supremo Mayawati and others for allegedly making hate speeches during poll campaign, refused to consider the plea of Mayawati challenging the EC's 48-hr ban.

Taking note of the EC action, the court said it seems the EC has "woken up" and barred various politicians from poll campaigning for varying hours.
