Why the CBI court rejected Indrani's bail
September 07, 2018  21:36
CBI Special Judge Jayendra Chandrasen Jagdale has issued a reply on Friday to the bail plea of Indrani Mukerjea, accused no 1 in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora.

These were the main points of his reply:

1. Indrani's plea for bail on health grounds:

The court 'opined' that she has faced similar issues in 2016 and the judge's predecessor Judge HS Mahajan has passed an order denying bail.

Judge Jagdale was not aware of any new reason for why she should be released on bail.

The court also directed the jail authorities that if any need arises she be given every possible medical treatment

2. Her plea for bail on security grounds:

The court said that seeking bail on security issues merely because Indrani had been a witness in the Manjul Shetye Byculla jail murder is highly exaggerated.

In the other case, concerning INX Media's erstwhile links with Karti Chidambaram, son of P Chidambaram, former Union finance minister, where she has given her statement, the accused are out on bail.

The court directed that if there is so much threat to her life in the current prison, she may be transferred to any prison which is safer. It also directed that more security be provided if needed.
