Hostage situation in France, ISIS claims responsibility

From the Independent: Gunmen have fired on police out jogging in Carcassonne in the south of France, before taking hostages at a supermarket in nearby Trbes, firing on police before taking a number of people hostage, according to local media reports.

Local authorities are treating the incident as a possible terrorist attack.

France's interior ministry confirmed a response was underway by police and security services. One of the gunmen claimed allegiance to Isis, AFP reported, citing French prosecutors.
