Madurai to get an AIIMS

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the setting up of a Rs 1500-crore All India Medical Institute branch at Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The PM is expected to lay the foundation for the AIIMS on September 15, on the birthday of CN Annadurai.

The hospital will have 900 beds and will be one of the premier architecturally innovative buildings in the city, a senior official of the Prime Minister's Office, said.
