The 'peaceful' Mumbai bandh called by Maratha outfits to press their demands for reservations in government jobs and education has begun amid tight security.

However, the bandh has virtually no effect on the city.

Local trains were running on time without any issues as the BEST buses, auto rickshaws and taxis.

Incidents of stone-pelting on BEST buses were reported in Navi Mumbai's Ghansoli area. Later, the BEST suspended the services between Vashi and Airoli.

In Thane, one Thane Municipal Transport bus was attacked at Wagale Estate.

Barring this, no incident of violence has been reported so far.

Heavy police bandobast has been in place to avoid any untoward incident.

In Thane, some Maratha organization workers came out and protested peacefully.

Schools and colleges are too open today as it wasn't included in bandh called by the Maratha Kranti Morcha.
