Speaker objects to Rahul hugging PM and winking

Soon after the House resumed, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan took objection to Congress president Rahul Gandhi hugging the prime minister and winking later.

She found it against the decorum of the House.

She said all the MPs will have to maintain the decorum of the House.

Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge tries to explain. However, the Speaker says she is not objecting to Rahul hugging Narendra Modi, the objection is to an opposition MP hugging the PM while he is sitting in the House and then winking later.

"I'm also a mother. And as a mother, it is my duty to discipline him (Rahul)," Mahajan said.
