Poet, lyricist Gopaldas Neeraj passes away

Poet and lyricist Gopaldas Neeraj has died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He was 93.

He was shifted to AIIMS from Agra hospital on Wednesday after his condition deteriorated.

He was admitted to a hospital in Agra after he complained of breathing problems on Tuesday, news reports said.

Reports quoted doctors as saying that he contracted infection in lungs.

Neeraj was awarded Padma Shri in 1991 and Padma Bhushan in 2007.

He also wrote many songs for Bollywood films. -- Agencies
